This child portrait in oil is the left half of two companion paintings I did of sisters. They can be hung together now while the children are growing up, and then when they inherit them, they can each have their own portrait. Before beginning, I went to my client’s house and observed the layout, colors and furnishings. The walls were a beautiful semi-dark avocado green. I couldn’t resist contrasting that with a rich red setting and dramatic lighting. I was very pleased when I saw them in place after they were framed.
In my next blog, you can read what her mother communicated to me when they hung both of the portraits on their wall.
