This boy is one of three siblings that I portraited for a family whose formal family oil portrait I also painted. How exciting it was to make the reference phototshoots for all 4 of these portraits on the same day! The family was from out of town but spent the night at the beach so they could be rested for a day of work as stars in front of the camera. Then, everyone jumped into fast action to pull off their parts in grand style, complete with changes of clothes, positions and lighting in our photography studio. Of course I had it “easy” as I made up the backgrounds when I painted each custom portrait in oil in a more leisurely manner for months afterwards.
