It was such a treat for me to do a custom family oil portrait painting of 4 captivating sisters. They ranged in ages from approaching adulthood, teen, pre-teen to 5 years old.
When I did this painting, I had the help of my representative who arranged everything. I was able just to show up with my husband to do the photography for my references. I have to say, that was an action filled hour. With so many involved there are bound to be many delightful surprises. Then, when I finished the portrait, my representative delivered it.
Mostly I seem to paint siblings of more similar ages. This time I had the whole gamut. The way they sat, the poise that they were aware of or were not aware of, their expressions said so much. It all showed not just their own individuality but also how they expressed themselves at different ages. We were pleased to have many good reference photographs of the girls when we left. The lighting that we took advantage of and created was also very good. I enjoyed making it show up dramatically with the sepia tones.
My representative told me that this family oil portrait painting of all 4 girls was undeniably memorable for the whole family. (That’s one of my many rewards.) I’m sure the girls will all remember being part of this artistic endeavor. Perhaps it is the last childhood experience that they would participate in together. After all, the oldest was just going off to college. The others will have to hold down the fort by themselves. The youngest was just starting school….
